the first time i read about CuciOtak aka Brainwash through internet article months ago, my mind kept telling my fingers to click more about him, thus i end up reading numerous articles and comments about him. it’s really interesting to know about a local well-known figure over the net despite whatever he did to attain that status.
after my last entry, CuciOtak FTW, i was certain that i’m gonna write more about him. the attack he made (again) to UiTM last 28 august by DNS hijacking caused the management to close the site for the whole day. i remembered trying to access the site but it wasn’t there anymore. the event greatly pwnd the webmaster him/herself, but i believe through such method only the public will know about the importance of internet security.
CuciOtak doesn’t stop there. he also attacked a website promoting a movie, cyberxmovie.com which intended to tell a story about hacking among local scene. i laughed. and today, the website is no more, suspended. easy way out eh? :D
when i woke up this morning doing my daily blog-hopping routine, i found that he again strikes and this time its MenaraKL’s turn. however, none actions were taken until this very time. i guess even the admins were unaware about it. makan tidur saja tau.
CuciOtak’s actions have been commented by lots of local cyber security followers and one of them said, which i like very much;
“as my experience in researching about hackers…i think its a trap…maybe there is a reason why he or she do a spelling error. because once upon time ago i remember my lecture said about miss direction. hacker want you to believe. so when you believe then you might following as what he or she want. so in this case, maybe he or she want us to believe that he from other country like indonesia with bad English but who knows he actually from malaysia. for security researcher or analyst i strongly believe well train not to be blind by miss direction. it will help much in tracking the person - just my 5cent” - LYN forum
whatever it is, educating public about cyber security is very important. people cant just go clicking this and that, without understanding the risk behind it. yeah, it is tough. me myself having great challenge regarding that. well, social engineering is indeed an interesting topic.
